What is the grading of golf balls and how does this help me select the right quality of golf ball?

LostGolfBalls.com utilizes a non-intrusive cleaning system that is designed to clean the golf ball without damage to the original condition of the golf balls we received. We utilize a proprietary wash process that allows the recovered golf balls to soak in a nonabrasive cleaning solution. The golf balls are then washed in a specially designed golf ball washer. All of these steps are performed within a fully contained replenishing system. That is all we do!

Once cleaned; the used golf balls are separated according to make, model and condition. The condition of the golf ball determines the grade of the golf ball and how we separate the good balls from the excellent golf balls.

The grades of used golf balls are listed below. The grade and number designate the condition of the used golf ball.

AAAAA/1st Quality-being the highest quality. 

AA/4th Quality-being the lowest quality.

AAAAA/1st Quality
Excellent Condition - The appearance and feel of this golf ball is similar to a new golf ball. This golf ball will show no or very little wear and will retain the original color and luster. These golf balls will include small player markings, team and corporate logos.

AAAA/2nd Quality        
Very Good Condition - The condition of this golf ball will be similar to a golf ball that has been played for a few holes. There may be a slight cosmetic blemishes and discoloration and in some of the dimples. There may be a slight difference in luster and color. The integrity and flight characteristic is not compromised. These golf balls will include player markings, team and corporate logos.

AAA/3rd Quality          
Good Condition - These used golf balls may have slight scuffs and blemishes. There may be minor discoloration and some of the print may smudge. Higher grade x-outs and practice models may be included. No cuts are included. These golf balls will include player markings, team and corporate logos.

AA/4th Quality           
Poor Condition – The AA grade used golf ball may look  worn, discolored, blemished and most will have scuffs. These golf balls can be used by beginners, first timers or work great as practice balls. These golf balls will include player markings, team and corporate logs.
