I don't like the new Callaway "Trionomer" cover, whatever the heck that is. The covers on almost all other golf balls, including Volvik Vivid and Titelist Trufeel matte finish balls, are hard and slick. These Callaway matte ball's covers are not firm nor slick but have a "soft, tacky" feel, like they're made of rubber. While this may help with soft feel and spin around greens, my experience is that it increases side spin (fades and draws) on tee shots. I have a lot more shot dispersion using these balls, both shorter distance and also inconsistent flight paths. I suspect that the soft core, combined with the soft sticky cover, makes the ball stick to the club face too long and enhances slices and draws from beginning players.
